The next Society of Urban Perambulators event will be on Saturday, March 19th with a stroll through the beautiful Schnitzelburg neighborhood and brief foray into adjacent Meriwether with our host and field guide Jeff Underhill of Underhill Associates.
We will meet up at 10:45 am at Underhill Associates' office in Germantown Mill Lofts at 946 Goss Ave Suite 6101, Louisville, KY 40217. The offices are located off of the parking lot in the back of the building.
The stroll will take us from Germantown Mill Lofts to the new Swiss Village where we will see some adaptive reuse of historic structures, get to tour some great new urban infill before they go on the market, and see some interesting places along the way including an old trolley house, hidden community garden and more. We will wrap up the tour at Monnik Beer Co.
This is one of our favorite areas to take a walk where we see and learn new things every time we are in the area. Even now we still find ourselves pleasantly discombobulated wandering around on the sometimes confusing street grid, something that is hard to do these days with our pocket computers. Really looking forward another trek through Schnitzelburg and learning something new on this tour.
If you like to walk, see and talk about neighborhoods and cities, and want to join us on Saturday the 19th or future strolls, email Patrick Piuma or join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thesocietyofurbanperambulators/.
The events are open to all but in order to keep walking group sizes manageable we need to know how many people plan to join us. Kids are welcome and though you can bring your well behaved dogs along, please understand that at points when we tour facilities the pets will need to stay outside.
Hope to see you on March 19th!
